8. RATIFICATION OF REASSIGNMENT OF STUDENTS TO SCHOOLS

Description

Reassignment of students to schools within the county have been approved by the administration or recommended by the Student Assignment Appeal Board in accordance with policies with the School Board.  They are presented for formal ratification.

Recommendation
That the reassignment of students to schools be ratified as presented.

9. APPROVAL OF RATIFICATION OF TERMINATION OF THE AGREEMENT WITH SKY FAMILY YMCA, INC

Description
An agreement with Sky Family YMCA Inc. for child care services at Laurel Nokomis School for the 2016-17 school year was approved on May 3, 2016. Laurel Nokomis School has subsequently decided to run its own after school care program and terminate the agreement with the YMCA. Principal Raymond Wilson sent the YMCA notification of the contract's termination on July 21, 2016.

Recommendation
That the School Board ratify terminations of the Agreement with Sky Family YMCA for after school care at Laurel Nokomis School dated May 3, 2016.

24. APPROVAL OF TENANT LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTH PORT AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA

Description
The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida desires to be part of the Family Service Center whose mission is to collaboratively integrate private human service providers and governmental entities to provide services to the North Port community.   The City of North Port owns a building located at 6919 Outreach Way, North Port, Florida, and the School Board of Sarasota County is interested in leasing a portion of said property.


Recommendation
That the Tenant Lease Agreement between the City of North Port and The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida be approved as presented.

25. APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION FOR DRIVER EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT FUNDS TO PROVIDE AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR THE 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR

Description
Pursuant to Section 318.1215, Florida Statutes and Section 122-35 of the Sarasota County Code, a $5.00 surcharge has been added to each civil traffic penalty in Sarasota County to enhance the funding of driver education programs in public and nonpublic schools located in Sarasota County. The funds are restricted to the enhancement of driver education programs and are to be used for direct educational expenses only. Only driver education programs that require a minimum of 30 percent of a student's time spent in "behind-the-wheel" training are eligible to receive the funds.

Recommendation
That the application for driver education enhancement funds to provide after school and summer programs for the 2016-2017 school year be approved.

26. APPROVAL TO AWARD BID#17-0380 FOR STC - FIRE SCIENCE ACADEMY BREATHING APPARATUS

Description
Bids to provide 'STC - Fire Science Academy Breathing Apparatus' were received from three vendors on July 12, 2016. The bid of Fisher Scientific Company, LLC (Fisher Science Education Business Unit), was the best low bid meeting the advertised specifications. The funds for these purchases are contained in the Internal Account lab fees collected from students.

Recommendation
That the bid of Fisher Scientific Company, LLC (Fisher Science Education Business Unit), for "STC - Fire Science Academy Breathing Apparatus' in an amount not to exceed $50,824.32, be approved as presented
